Dear Ladies and Gentlemen
I am greatly humbled by the honor to welcome you all to this prestigious event of the North-West Chapter of the Black Management Forum, a distinguished thought leadership organisation whose main purpose is to influence socio-economic transformation of our country in pursuit of socio economic justice, fairness and equity.
Over the last few years, your organisation has been a foremost leader in the development and advancement of black managerial leadership and the broader agenda of transformation in the country. The BMF has come to be recognized for its steadfast and uncompromising stance on such issues as affirmative action and employment equity, often acting as the voice of reason on both public and private sector affairs. We wish to congratulate the BMF on the successful holding of its annual conference earlier last month. Congratulations Mr President on your re-election and other board members. We trust that you shall continue to provide excellent leadership to this distinguished organisation in the years to come.
Dear ladies and gentleman
As Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, we pride ourselves on the emerging good relations between ourselves and the BMF in our district. As a municipality we have sponsored the land of the student chapter and the young professionals under the umbrella of the BMF. There are important platforms seeking to develop youth leadership in the business and the professional circles.
Furthermore the Dr Kenneth Kaunda district has established a public-private partnership with the Batmaster multi – sports social development program. I tonight announce the launch of the program in our district to the benefit of the youth in our municipal wards starting in Ventersdorp and Maquassi-hills. This program will empower historical disadvantaged youth in our district municipality and lay the foundation for developing future leaders with character building skills taught by the Batmaster program.
I, the district mayor, together with the Batmaster program team will facilitate the internalization of this program. As I speak counterparts in both the USA and Canada have just these requested visits with a view to establish this program in their communities. I am further proud to announce that this program was developed in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District by two members of the Dr Kenneth Kaunda BMF Branch.
Mr Rametsi and Mr Cornish will you please be upstanding.
We have also financially assisted the Rorisang Blind Association with the BMF’s Dr Kenneth Kaunda branch is seeking to assist as well through the golf-day held today.
As a municipality, we are delighted to see the BMF getting involved in the community. This is quite encouraging and it is our hope that going into the future, the collaboration between ourselves will be strengthened further. I wish the BMF success in its work and hope you will continue to provide leadership to society. This gala event is ideal opportunity for deliberations among like-minded individuals. Please enjoy your dinner Ladies and gentlemen.
Kindly on behalf of Dr Kenneth Kaunda district municipality I would like to heartily welcome you hear tonight. A special welcome to guests coming from outside the North-West Province.
I thank you
